The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique adventure in hiking and riding which is loved by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel is now open in the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, Israel's capital city.

The tunnel connects the path between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance is in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction due to its rich history. Elkin stated that the current tourist industry is a part of Jerusalem's historical treasures and incorporates modern day tourism. Elkin, whose ministry together with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, said the ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels each year to develop all aspects of Jerusalem's tourism and the development of exciting activities and ventures that connect the glorious historical past of our eternal capital to the future of Jerusalem... I encourage the cycling community to take a relaxing and modern-day route that takes the cyclist through Old Jerusalem.

Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

נווה פריצקי In the late 1990s In the 90s, the Kerem Tunnel was excavated to move the main sewer line of Gihon Corporation to the Sorek purification plant. It is currently used for infrastructure purposes and houses the fifth water line to Jerusalem by the Mekorot water company.

To make the tunnel usable to the public all year round, the works include road construction and installation of blowers.

The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to numerous places to relax, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well as historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
